First Week Updates
Thank you all for an amazing first week!
The heat and sun made it truly feel like summer and we truly cannot wait. Remember that next week is short (no practice Monday for Memorial Day and no practice Friday to give everyone time to celebrate the last day of school). With rain in the forecast, please be sure to check for announcements regarding practice delays or cancellations. Download the Swimtopia app for immediate notifications or check Instagram (rt_swim_dive) for updates.
Meet Entry & Volunteer Sign Ups Open
Please visit Swimtopia to RSVP for meets and to register for volunteer shifts. Remember that each family is committed to filling five shifts throughout the season. A detailed description of each position can be found here. Contact Lolly Hodge or Julia Tompkins with any questions about volunteer roles.
Saturday Opportunities
We are so excited to have Bradley and Cabell back with us on Saturdays to help push our swimmers to the next level. Swimmers can take advantage of their expertise on the following Saturday mornings: June 6th, June 13th, June 20th, June 27th, and July 11th
Bradley will continue to offer Boss Hoss from 8-10 am. Experienced swimmers aged 10+ will focus on distance, stamina, speed and power. Boss Hoss offers a fun, mentally engaging and tough workout.
Cabell will conduct stroke specific clinics each Saturday to prepare for the upcoming meet. These clinics are open to all Swim Team members (no Pre-Team) with two sessions:
10 and under from 8-9 am
11+ from 9-10 am
Support your Riptides!
New for 2026- Show your Ridgetop pride with a car magnet! Magnets are $10 each and all proceeds will support the purchase of a new team computer. This will create a smoother experience for our coaches and meet workers. Look for a Swim Team Rep to purchase in person or email [email protected].
JRAC Updates
If you are new to the team, you might be wondering: What is JRAC? The James River Aquatic Club (JRAC) is the governing league for our summer swim and dive season. It brings together over 20 area pools to promote youth fitness, sportsmanship, and safe, fun competition. Our team reps recently attended the latest JRAC meeting on May 17, and we have a few exciting updates, policy reminders, and key dates as we gear up for the 2026 season!
Thank you to everyone volunteering for our head trained roles! Filling these spots is crucial for our meets to actually happen, and your willingness to train saves the team from meet point penalties!
Mark Your Calendars
- June 20:JRAC Scholarship Applications are due! If you have a graduating senior, encourage them to apply. Last year, the league received 16 applications.
- Mid-July: JRAC Championship Meets ("Champs"). The league also officially voted to rent the "Big Tent" for our team base camp at Champs as in years past!
- Action Item: The reps will be voting in September on the schedule for next year, and we need your thoughts. For this year's schedule, the league-wide vote was a tight 50-50 split, so your perspective as parents is incredibly important. Please take 1 minute to vote on your schedule preference here so our Ridgetop Voting Rep can represent the majority for our club!
Quick Rule Reminders
- Cap & Suit Rules: Per league regulations, swimmers are not allowed to wear apparel or swim caps displaying other team logos during official meets.
- JRAC Rulebook: Swim reps have copies of the official JRAC rulebook - if you have questions or would like some light pool reading, please let us know!
We Need You! (Volunteer Opportunities)
JRAC runs entirely on parent power, and they are currently looking to fill a massive league-wide role:
- JRAC Social Media Chair: The league is looking for a volunteer to manage their social media presence for the season. If you love storytelling, photography, or digital communication, this is a fantastic way to support the broader swim community!
- Champs Support: The league is looking for committee members to help make Champs happen!
