Meet #1

We have one week of practice before our first meet: home v Ginter Park on Monday, June 8th @ 6:00. Please RSVP on Swimtopia if you have not already done so. Backstroke is the stroke of the week and our theme for the meet will be Hawaiian Night- so start digging out your grass skirts, coconuts and leis. ChickFilA will be available for purchase at the meet (we are not taking pre orders this year). Stay tuned for more information from our coaches on meet timing, events, and buddies!

Volunteers

Thank you to everyone who is already signed up to volunteer! Home meets require a lot of man power so if your child is participating in the meet please plan to volunteer. If you are unsure how you can best help, please contact us at [email protected] and we will help you find a job that works for you. Remember that each family is responsible for filling at least 5 volunteer shifts throughout the season.

We are looking for some night owl volunteers (ages 14+) to help us out with meet ribbons. There is a quick turnaround time between the end of a meet and fun practice awards the next morning. We are happy to sign off on volunteer hours for school! Contact [email protected] if you are interested in learning more.

Boss Hoss & Clinics

I can’t think of a better way to prepare for our first meet than a morning with Bradley and Cabell! On Saturday, June 6th, we will have our first Boss Hoss of the season and two backstroke specific clinics.

Join Bradley from 8-10 am for a tough but fun workout to push your swimmer to the next level.

Swimmers 10 and under can join Cabell from 8-9 am to work on backstroke and get in some more pool time before the first meet. Swimmers 11 and up are welcome to join from 9-10 to practice their backstroke starts, turns, and technique.

Preteam

School is out and our youngest swimmers are ready to get in the pool! Practice starts this Monday, June 1st from 11-11:30. We can’t wait to see everyone! Swimmers from the 12+ practice are invited to stay and help out with the littles.

Gear Pickup

Spirit wear and team suits from Virginia Swim Shop are in! If we missed you at the party yesterday our coaches will try to get these to your swimmers during practices next week.

2026 Team shirts are on the way! On Friday, June 5th we hope to distribute shirts and any remaining suits and spirit wear during morning practices. Silicone RT logo caps and car magnets will be available for purchase during this time.

Magnet Fundraiser

Support your swim team and show your RT pride with a car magnet, new for 2026! Magnets are $7 and can be purchased at the snack bar (exact change only), at gear pickup (exact change or Venmo), or at volunteer check in at the meet (exact change or Venmo). We look forward to spotting our Riptides around town.
